Our last week in the Omiš Riviera!!!

Last week we went to Dino park. There were bungee trampolines, inflatable balls that you run on water with, the biggest slide in the world, millions of bouncy castles, ball pits, bounties revenge (Josie came off screaming,) mechanical dinosaurs, trains and lots more.

My favourite was the water balls. They were almost impossible to run in because they were so slippery people kept spinning us around and you guest it… Josie was screaming again.

Then we went to a fortica called Starigrad in Omiš. It was the hardest climb up because the stairs were so steep and there were loads of stinging nettles.
Mum thought we would quit half way because Josie and Eliza were crying and screaming. People thought it was too noisy and climbed down. Mum and dad were extremely proud of us kids for making it up the Fortica....so steep and such a long climb.

Last night I went swimming at 8:30 PM. Therewere 5 dolphins and they kept jumping out of the water and bashing the water with their tails  like it was a feeding frenzy. There is also different fish at night there were  all these ones that were black and usually they are all silver. We had a spectacular sunset and a very bright half moon  It was really awesome.
I never think I will have this experience again.

Our weekend in Dubrovnik!!

Three days ago we went to Dubrovnik. On the way there we popped in to Ston which  is a town just out of Dubrovnik.  It is famous for its mussels. I ate  1 kg of them and we had this big caramel cake for dessert. They farm the mussels with gigantic nets so they wash into them. After The mussels me and dad walked a one km bridge it took a few hours.  It was almost completely vertical.

Then we arrived in Dubrovnik!!  To get there we had to go through another country called Bosnia and Herzegovina . When we got to Dubrovnik  I had a gigantic burek for breakfast. Then we went on a walk around the city walls. T here were 876 steps.  Everyone except me kept on crying and screaming (especially Eliza.)

The walls of Dubrovnik were made to defend the city from enemies since the 9th century. In the 1993 Serbia launched 2000 bombs at Dubrovnik in the home land war.
Every day we went to the same ice-cream man (Marko) because he can scoop the ice-cream …launch it up in the air …and catch it in the cone .  He can also get the whole ice cream and cone and flip it in the air.   He can even twirl the ice cream  in his hands.
On the last day we went on a pirate ship and went to three islands called the Elafiti Islands. On the first one we stayed for 50 minutes. Mum and dad had a coffee and we stayed in the park. On the second island we stayed for 1 hour and had a swim. Then we had lunch. I ordered chicken kebabs and salad. This was BBQ on the back of the boat.  On the third island we stayed for 3 hours  and had a swim in the only sand beach in Croatia.  There were lots of hermit crabs, starfish, crabs, and lots more!

THIS WAS THE BEST TIME IN CROATIA!!

OARSOME OARVENTURE!!!!!!!!

Yesterday we went into Omiš to go rafting on the river  Cetina. In the ticket office we watched some people rafting on TV. Mum, dad, Bailey, Josie, Eliza and I though it would be gentle  and calm but it rough and had rapids. First the guide took us to our skipper. His name was Goran and he was a Thai boxing champion.

We tied the boat on the van. They ripped the seat-belts out so we drove for half     an hour with no seatbelt on (that's very common in Croatia.) When we got to the river we carried the boat in to the water put on some lifejackets and a helmet and hopped in.

There were three parts to the rafting course.  First part: gentle water with a few rapids. Second part: fast water with lots of rapids. Third part: gentle with one massive rapid. On the first rapid the girls were screaming.  After a few more they got use to the rapids and loved it except for the Devils. At one part we did some walking because the next rapid was too big.

The second part was oarsome when Goran shouted "bomba" on the "Little Devil" (a big rapid). We had to get low in the boat with our oars vertical. Lots of water splashed us!  We saw snakes, turtles, fish and birds on the river.Close to the end of the third part there was the "Big Devil", a giant rapid so big that the boat almost tipped over!

This was a day I would never forget!!!

Land Ahoy!!

Last week we moved to Marusici which  is an hour out of Split on the Omis Riviera . We have two houses one for the kids and one for the adults. The kids house has two bedrooms a bathroom and a sitting room.  Our house is perched on a Mountain leading down to the Adriatic Sea. We have spectacular views of the ocean.

Two days ago we went to the town of Omis which was a town that had pirates in it in the 19th century. We climbed up an old pirate fort I was the only one who made it to the top. Everyone else was too scared .

We are going rafting up the river tomorrow. We all need to row. It will be hard work because we are going against the flow not down it.

We have had some really bad weather. Here is the forecast rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.......... It is even snowing in some places and it summer in a few weeks!

We are going to watch the new Star Trek in a few days. It only came out a few days ago. After the movie  we are going to go and have dinner at Mc Donald's

Last Week In Brač!

Last weekend mum came home from Zagreb. We met her at Supertar ferry terminal and had burgers and čevapi (sausage in a bun) by the sea for dinner.  Mum got me a Croatian badge for my scout backpack.

A few days after, a babysitter named Sanja came to babysit us.  Eliza went crazy. She started hitting Sanja and running around the house with her knickers on her head.

On our last weekend we went to 3 different beaches on Brač.  We went to Bol for a swim at Zlatni Rat, Sumartin and Sutivan.  On the last night in Sutivan we went to the best restaurant. I got fresh grilled calamari.  When mum chose her fresh fish (from a platter of fish that was caught that morning) Eliza said, "I will stab fish in eye like this" and she stabbed herself

in the eye and started crying.

Yesterday we moved to a new house called Villa Danica on the mainland.

Last week we went on a boat to Split so we could visit an international park called Plitvice.    There were so many awesome crystal clear waterfalls and caves. The signs all say WATCH OUT FOR BEARS. Mum and dad gave us lots and lots of lollies because we had to walk 24 km in two days. We stayed in two houses over the four nights away.

On the way back to Brac mum caught a bus to Zagreb to visit her friend Bo. Dad had to look after all of us and looking after Eliza is a VERY hard job. Soon after we got home we went and got the best ice-creams. I got one that is rum flavoured!
Yesterday we went to a farm. There were so many different animals like pigs, sheep, cows, peacocks, geese and horses. We had had a ride on the ponies. Josie screamed and refused to get on.

Wednesday, Jack Day, Friday

Yesterday was Jack day . Me and dad went to Split (the main land.)

On the ferry I threw a bottle with a note in it in the water. It said "THIS BOTTLE WAS THROWN IN TO THE ADRIATIC SEA OFF THE COAST OF BRAČ BY JACK SLEE AGED NINE ON THE 2/5/13. IF FOUND PLEASE EMAIL
jackineurope2013@gmail.com. I COME FROM PERTH, AUSTRALIA."

When we arrived in Split we climbed up the bell tower and got the best view. I brought my binoculars so I could see everything close up. Next we went to a cafe and I got a Sprite and dad got a cafe Macchiato.  I stole some of it.

Then we went to an AWESOME sailing museum. It was all  about the boats that were in the "Home" war. There were guns, torpedoes, rockets and land mines on display. Some land mines are still in the forests of Split.
For lunch I ordered an octopus salad cooked I wine and dad got some fish stew it was delicious! For a drink dad ordered a beer and I got an ice tea.

Then we went for a walk Diocletian Palace and saw a headless sphinx imported from Egypt in 500 BC. Afterwards we we went to the markets to get a snorkel and goggles. Dad also bought me T-shirt that said "Pirates From Croatia." Then we got some fruit and veg and caught a ferry back to Brač.

I can't wait to go to Split again!!!
